Built in 1887, it originally housed the J. H. Turnbach Hardware Company, with a tin shop on the second floor, selling tinware, cutlery, paint, oil, glass, dynamite, and mining tools. In 1917, it became the town post office. In the 1940s, Wolf Furniture moved in, and then, in the 1980s, Heilig-Meyers. Its doors closed for business in 2000.
By early 2021 when Kelmenson acquired the building, it was condemned and in need of immediate repair. A leaky roof had caused severe structural damage, including a bowed exterior wall. Both repairs were completed last winter. By July, 2022, a section of the building was finished and leased to Average Jack’s Archery. The rest remains under construction.it
